Terms of Service

The ground rules for using GreekMate and its learning content.

Draft for review: These terms are a practical launch draft and should be reviewed before public release. They are not legal advice.

Last updated: 21 August 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the GreekMate mobile app, greekmate.app and related services (together, “GreekMate”). By using GreekMate, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required in your country, to create an account. If you are not old enough to agree to these Terms yourself, a parent or legal guardian must agree for you.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for providing accurate account information, keeping your sign-in details confidential and promptly telling us about suspected unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the law says otherwise.

4. Educational content

GreekMate is an educational tool designed to support practical Modern Greek learning. We work to make content useful and accurate, but language varies by region, context and speaker. GreekMate does not guarantee fluency, examination results, immigration outcomes or a particular learning result.

Translations, pronunciation guides and situational phrases are provided for learning and general assistance. In medical, legal, financial or emergency situations, do not rely on GreekMate as a substitute for qualified help or official information.

5. Acceptable use

You may use GreekMate for your own lawful, personal learning. You must not:

  • Interfere with, damage, probe or attempt to bypass the security of GreekMate.
  • Use automated systems to scrape or extract the service or its content.
  • Copy, sell, sublicense or commercially exploit GreekMate content without permission.
  • Use the service to break the law, harm others or infringe another person’s rights.
  • Misrepresent your identity or use another person’s account without permission.

6. Intellectual property

GreekMate, including its software, brand, design, lessons, exercises, recordings, text and other content, is owned by GreekMate or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property law. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use GreekMate for personal learning; they do not transfer ownership to you.

7. Paid features and subscriptions

GreekMate may introduce optional paid features or subscriptions in the future. If it does, the price, billing period, renewal terms, trial conditions, cancellation process and any applicable refund rights will be shown before purchase. Purchases made through an app store may also be governed by that store’s terms and billing rules.

8. Availability and changes

We may improve, change, suspend or discontinue parts of GreekMate. We do not promise that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We will try to give reasonable notice when a material change affects your use, where practical.

9. Third-party services

GreekMate depends on services provided by others, including app stores, cloud infrastructure and device speech-recognition services. Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.

10. Termination

You may stop using GreekMate at any time. We may restrict or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, create risk for users or the service, or if required by law. Where appropriate, we will try to give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

11. Disclaimers and liability

GreekMate is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, profit, opportunity or goodwill arising from use of GreekMate.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your mandatory consumer rights are not affected.

12. Governing terms and changes

These Terms should be completed with the appropriate governing-law and dispute-resolution wording after legal review and once the operating entity is confirmed. We may update these Terms as GreekMate develops. If a change is material, we will provide notice as required by law.

13. Contact
